With the older CDC systems, excess torque applied either because the belt wasn't aligned or was being run at the wrong tension could cause it to slip off the cog, but I've never heard of this happening with a CDX system.

One of the benefits of the belt is that it doesn't stretch, so you won't have to worry about that. The biggest drawbacks are that you do lose a little bit of efficiency, there are also less gearing options, and the drivetrain is more expensive than a chain, but you'll have to replace it and maintain it far less often. Now I'm considering getting a frame compatible with belt drive. Are there any concerns about belt stretch and the forces on a belt while riding fixed?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8101985188719136215.post-43989676521614386782014-08-16T13:20:22.744-07:002014-08-16T13:20:22.744-07:00It's a 54cm, and while I usually ride a 53 it&...It's a 54cm, and while I usually ride a 53 it's worked really well for me after a lot of tweaking and a professional fitting.

To switch to the CDX system, I had to replace the belt, the belt ring, and the rear cog (which actually ended up with me lacing up a new wheel so I could get the correct hub spacing). I also replaced the crank because I wanted 165mm crank arms for riding fixed, and I removed the rear brake, but those are both completely optional. I have a lot more information about how I did it starting here: http://velopsy.blogspot.com/2013/06/i-fixed-it-more-musings-of-fixed-gear.html

And thank you so much! I really love this bike. It's been a great commuter and all around errand runner/adventuring/exploring bike. I highly recommend the belt drive - it certainly still has its cons, but they last and last (and last) and are really a fun way to ride :]Psyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15254881593674679671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8101985188719136215.post-85990581829758788882014-08-16T12:59:27.966-07:002014-08-16T12:59:27.966-07:00What size frame is that?
