NAHBS!

Tickets are bought, and it's official - I'll be going to NAHBS this year!

I certainly won't have a booth or anything like that, but I am definitely excited to see what's new in the framebuilding world and finally meet some of the many builders that I follow in person.  I cannot wait!

I hope that everyone had a good holiday and is currently enjoying this strange week that always happens between Christmas and New Year's.

Merry Christmas to All!

I've been traveling literally every weekend for the past three months, so please forgive the lack of content lately!

It's Christmas Eve and I have finally been able to sit down for a moment, so enjoy a couple fall photos that I took during Thanksgiving.  I was a bit obsessed with the leaves and with my wheels, if you can tell!

The leaves were falling like crazy as I rolled through them, and a combination of luck and wind caught me some stragglers.

I'm off to prepare for the holiday, but I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, or whatever it is that you and your family celebrate.  Have fun and stay safe, and hopefully Santa brings you a brand new bicycle.

My little bell blended in nicely among these berries, and it's really hard not to have a smile on your face when you're riding a jingling bicycle on Christmas Eve.

Speaking of Christmas Cards

I've had this on my hard drive for about a million years, and I'm absolutely in love with it.  I kept forgetting to post it in the past, or I'd remember that I had it around June.  

With that webbing I assume it's a Rossin.

Does anyone know the artist?  I tried a reverse image search and got a lot of Tumblr posts and a few other cycling blog posts, but nothing that indicates a source, though I did also find a version that has been shopped to say "Merry Christmas."

The idea is brilliant, and I'd love to A) credit the artist, and B) ask permission to make a Takhion version.  

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be incredibly grateful!  And if the original artist does stumble across this - shoot me an e-mail, I'd love to buy a print.

Someday, when I actually make Christmas cards, they'll have a Takhion on them.  

Speaking of Takhions, the fork crowns are still in progress (casting takes a while, apparently) - but they'll hopefully be here before Christmas, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

There were some great Halloween festivities today at work, and my friend showed up with an awesome costume (that not enough people seemed to get, unfortunately!)

Though I'm not sure if he spent the day pretending he was Italian.

My friend showed me the awesome bicycle henna he got, and I had to copy him...

And now my bike is covered in glitter.

It's a bit non-traditional, but the talented woman who was doing henna tattoos seemed happy to do this design for me.

Sorry for my absence this month.  I have been extremely busy with family related events, but I have made some progress on the 3D side of things that should be interesting!

Deck the Halls

Recently there has been a whole slew of amazing holiday ideas for those of us who love bikes a little too much.  It's been a hectic past couple of weeks, but I still managed to collect some of my favorites to share.  

I got one of these awesome little ornaments for Christmas last year, but ran out of time this year to make any of my own.  If you're curious though, check out how to here!  I especially love these because they don't have to be made specific to Christmas - there are many possible shapes, designs, and colors, so it's easy to make something for everybody.

For something a bit larger (and if you have a buttload of various sized wheels lying around), this awesome Christmas tree is a great idea.  I've also seen a mini one made out of a modified cassette.  Plus you don't have to water it.

Or what about a Specialized Christmas Carol?  

Don't want to give up the smell of Christmas trees?  I don't blame you, and you can try this DIY bike wreath using any wheel/rim/light combination.  Who doesn't have at least one old rim lying around that you can't bring yourself to throw away?

In terms of mobile decorations, I've seen a lot of ideas floating around - garland, reindeer antlers, or even ornaments, but I am still a fan of adding Christmas lights to your ride.  How cool would it be to roll up to your annual neighborhood Christmas light ride on something like this?

And while it's not much nor is it very pretty, my little contribution this year was just good old bike parts on the tree.  

Mostly just lockrings.

It's still not too late to do any of these things, especially if you adhere to the holidays being celebrated until January 6th (or at least through New Years), but if not, there's always next year!
